Biomass Briquetting is the process of converting low bulk density biomass into high density and energy concentrated fuel briquettes. Biomass Briquetting plants are of various sizes which converts biomass into solid fuels. Briquettes are ready substitute of Coal/wood in industrial boiler and brick kiln for thermal application. Biomass briquettes are Non conventional Source of energy, Renewable in nature, Eco friendly, non polluting and economical. Process of converting biomass to solid fuel is also non-polluting.
Among the non-conventional forms of energy, Bio-Energy offers vast potential under Indian conditions, due to the wide spectrum of BIOMASS available in different agro-climatic regions of the country. It is estimated that over 120 million tons of agricultural and forest residues are generated annually. The biomass includes agro-industrial bi-products and animal refuse.
India is one of the biggest country in world. It has all the natural resources and sources starting from mines, forests, sea, agricultural fields with vast concentration of natural resources. There exist minerals metal ores, coal of different varieties, agricultural residues, forest cellulosic wastes producing trees, etc. Now at present there are several small, medium and large scale industries which are being installed day by day to utilise these natural resources to cater the national and international requirements. Several industries such as NALCO, FACOR, TISCO, ROURKELA STEEL PLANTS, KESORAM TYRES of Birla group, OTM, Paradeep Phosphates Ltd. etc. also several cement industries, paper industries are serving the nation by manufacturing different products. These industries are needing the bulk quantity of coal and other substituted fuels. There are other small scale industries which are also needing a lot of fuels. To cater the fuel need of thee industries biocoal will serve in a better manner by providing a cheaper solid fuel substitute of coal.
